Meshrubat ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Meshrubat mobile application (the "App"). Meshrubat is a project of Protrom. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

  1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is necessary to provide and improve the App. We group it into the following categories.

1.1 Account Information

An account is required to use Meshrubat. When you sign up, we collect:

Your name

Your email address

Limited profile information passed to us when you sign in with Apple or Google (such as a name and email, depending on what you authorize)

1.2 Usage Data

We collect information about how you interact with the App so we can understand what works and improve it:

Which recipes you view, save, or mark as made

Features and sections you use

Session duration and frequency of use

Search and discovery activity within the App

1.3 Device and Technical Data

To keep the App stable and secure, and to measure our advertising, we collect:

Device type and model

Operating system and version

App version

Diagnostic and crash data

Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS), where you have given permission

1.4 Community Content

When you take part in our community features (the House of Meshrubat), we collect and store:

Comments, messages, and posts you share

Your participation in chat rooms and events

Any content you choose to make visible to other users

Community content that you make public can be seen by other members. Please do not share information you wish to keep private.

1.5 AI Feature Data

If you use our AI-assisted features (such as personalized recommendations or ingredient detection), we may process:

Chat messages with the assistant

Taste preferences and favorite drinks

Recipe context relevant to your request

Photos you scan for ingredient detection

This processing only happens with your consent, and you may decline these features. See Section 4 for details on the processor involved.

1.6 Advertising and Measurement Data

We advertise the App on third-party platforms. To understand whether our advertising works, we share limited information with our advertising partners, including:

Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), where you have given permission

App events such as installs, app opens, and in-app activity

Subscription and purchase events

This information is used to measure the performance of our advertising campaigns and to show relevant ads. It allows our partners to understand, for example, that someone who saw an ad later installed the App.

On iOS, we ask for your permission before using your advertising identifier for this purpose, through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, we do not use your advertising identifier to track you across other companies' apps and websites. You can change this choice at any time in your device settings under Privacy and Security, then Tracking.

1.7 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your precise location.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the legal drinking age in their region.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Please note that under some privacy laws, including California law, sharing information with advertising partners for advertising measurement may be considered "sharing" or a "sale." You have the right to opt out of this. See Section 9.

1.8 Subscription and Payment Information

The App includes an optional paid subscription. When you purchase a subscription, payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and we do not collect or store your full payment card details. We may receive limited transaction information such as your subscription status, plan type, renewal date, and purchase confirmation in order to manage your access to paid features.

We use the information we collect to:

Create, authenticate, and manage your account

Provide and personalize recipe recommendations

Enable community features, chat rooms, and events

Operate AI-assisted features you choose to use

Improve App performance, diagnose issues, and develop new features

Measure the performance of our advertising campaigns

Show you relevant ads for the App on third-party platforms

Communicate with you about updates, features, and support

Maintain the safety, integrity, and security of the App and its users

Comply with legal obligations

  1. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA and UK Users)

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

Contract: to create your account and provide the core features of the App.

Consent: for optional features such as AI-assisted tools, certain communications, and advertising measurement, including the use of your advertising identifier. Where required, we ask for your consent before this processing takes place, and you may withdraw it at any time.

Legitimate interests: to improve, secure, and protect the App, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.

Legal obligation: where we are required to retain or disclose data by law.

  1. Third-Party Services and Processors

We use trusted third-party services to operate and improve the App. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms.

Google Firebase: app infrastructure, authentication, and crash reporting.

Google Analytics: understanding how users interact with the App in aggregate.

OpenAI (data processor for AI features):

What is processed: chat messages, taste preferences, favorite drinks, recipe context, and scan photos.

Purpose: recipe recommendations, AI assistant features, and ingredient detection.

Where it is processed: United States, on OpenAI servers.

User control: no data is sent for AI processing without your consent, and you may decline these features.

Advertising Partners

We work with the following advertising platforms to promote the App and measure our campaigns. They receive limited information as described in Section 1.6.

TikTok (TikTok Pte. Ltd.):

What is processed: advertising identifier, app events such as installs and app opens, and device information.

Purpose: advertising delivery and measurement.

These partners act as independent controllers of the data they receive, and their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.

We do not sell your personal information for money to any third party.

  1. Age Restriction

Meshrubat contains content related to alcoholic beverages and is intended for users who are of legal drinking age in their country or region. The App is rated 17+ and is not directed at minors. If we learn that we have collected information from someone under the applicable legal age, we will delete it.

  1. Data Storage and Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your data is stored on secure servers provided by our infrastructure partners. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  1. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. These countries may have different data protection rules than your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in these locations.

  1. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes. Aggregated or anonymized data that no longer identifies you may be retained for analytics.

  1. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you

Correct inaccurate or incomplete information

Request deletion of your account and associated data

Object to or restrict certain processing

Withdraw consent for optional processing at any time

Opt out of advertising tracking at any time through your device settings

Request a copy of your data in a portable format

Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

You can delete your account and associated data at any time through the App's settings, or by contacting us at the email below. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframe required by applicable law.

EEA and UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): you have the rights listed above and may contact your supervisory authority.

California (CCPA / CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money. However, we do share limited information with advertising partners for advertising measurement, which may be considered "sharing" under California law. You can opt out at any time by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or by turning off tracking in your device settings. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

  1. Children's Privacy

Meshrubat is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the legal drinking age in their region. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

  1. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The App and our analytics, infrastructure, and advertising partners may use identifiers and similar technologies to authenticate users, remember preferences, measure performance, and measure advertising. You can manage some of these through your device settings, including turning off advertising tracking. Disabling certain identifiers may affect App functionality.

  1. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated policy within the App and updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
